Heinrich Julius von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel (1564-1613) wurde bereits mit zwei Jahren zum Bischof erwählt und übernahm ab 1578 die Herrschaft im Bistum Halberstadt. Er war der erste nicht-katholische Bischof des Bistums. Für sein gesamtes Herrschaftsgebiet ließ Heinrich Julius Münzen mit Bezug zu Halberstadt prägen. Dieser gelochte Ortstaler zeigt auf der Vorderseite einen Wilden Mann, in der rechten Hand einen Baumstamm haltend und zu seinen Seiten die Jahreszahl 15 - 97. Auf der Rückseite ist ein unbehelmtes, neunfeldiges Wappen mit Halberstädter Mittelschild abgebildet. (C. Heinevetter)
